A prosecutor has told Derry Magistrate's Court that a full file has been received in the case of a local man charged with animal cruelty.
Peter Toland (29) of Cornshell Fields in Derry appeared charged with causing unnecessary suffering to an American Bull Terrier dog on March 15 this year.
He also faces 4 charges of failing to take reasonable steps to ensure animal welfare was met on the same date.
The court was told that the full file had been received and was being considered by a Directing Officer.
A decision should then be taken after the case is considered and an adjournment was requested for four weeks.
Defence solicitor Paddy MacDermott said there was no objection to that course of action.
Toland was remanded in custody and the case will be before the court again on July 6.
