Primary school pupils across Derry are set to benefit from the launch of a new suite of educational videos which are aimed at children in pre school and Key stage 1.

The new educational resources are the cumulation of months of work by the charity, Road Safe NI, after they secured funding from the NIPB Police Property Fund grant scheme.

Davy Jackson, Chairperson of Road Safe NI, commented: “We are delighted with how the videos have turned out.

"They feature our mascot Road Safe Roary giving life saving road safety tips to a vulnerable age group.

“We believe it is now more important than ever that children are reminded of the dangers on our roads.

"Children are one of the most vulnerable road user groups but with education, they can reduce the risks.

“These videos offer practical advice and demonstrates how to cross the road safely, how to travel safely in a car and how to play safely in the park”

“Road Safe NI have engaged with schools for many years to promote road safety and know that learning materials need to be interactive and we believe these free to all videos will certainly enhance the learning experience and will go hand in hand with our recent publication 'Street Smart Road Safe' booklet that we are currently distributing to all primary schools across Northern Ireland”

“We could not have produced this series of videos without the support of the NIPB Police Property Fund for which we are very grateful.

“Indeed, the majority of our programmes are delivered in partnership with key road safety stakeholders. We would encourage all primary schools to get involved in this project. Free copies of the videos can be downloaded by visiting www.roadsafeni.org (available online from 22nd May 2023).”
