Second arrest made in investigation over cruelty to a dog in Derry park

Dog found beaten and partially buried in Derry

Police investigating a report of animal cruelty involving a dog in Derry have made a second arrest and conducted a search of an address.

A 23-year-old man was arrested today, Tuesday 21st March, on suspicion of Causing Unnecessary Suffering to Animals.

The arrest follows a report of a dog that was found injured and partially buried in Ballyarnett Country Park on Wednesday, 15th March.

The man remains in custody at this time.

A 29 year old man appeared before Dungannon Magistrates' Court on Saturday following his arrest last Wednesday on suspicion of animal cruelty.

He was accused of causing unnecessary suffering to animals, and charged with four counts of failing to take reasonable steps to ensure the needs of an animal.
