It’s no joke… Eastwood and Durkan join Eddie Izzard in call to reject Brexit

SDLP leader Colum Eastwood and Foyle MP Mark Durkan have joined up with comedian and rights campaigner Eddie Izzard to call for people to vote for staying in the European Union in this month’s referendum.

Izzard was in Derry on Friday as part of his Stand Up For Europe campaign.

Mr Durkan said: “It was good to welcome Eddie Izzard to Derry as part of his campaign effort to encourage a vote to ‘Remain’ in the EU.

“Eddie Izzard has also lent himself to charitable causes, international humanitarian solidarity as well as peace and rights campaigns.

“In the midst of a media debate which too often sounds like an argument between the smoke and the shrill, it is refreshing to hear his cogent, passionate and positive case for the EU’s importance and potential.”
