The Derry Anti-War Coalition have called an "emergency vigil to protest against the US / Israel attacks on Iran".

The vigil will take place tonight (Monday, March 2, 2026) at 6.00pm at the War Memorial in Derry's Diamond.

A spokesperson for the group described the attacks as ‘ illegal’ and called for people in Derry to join them in protest:

“The attack on Iran - Operation ‘Epic Fury‘  - is illegal under international law. The US and Israel talk about the threat posed by Iran as their missiles smash into Iranian homes, schools and hospitals," said the spokespeson.

"The extrajudicial killing of the spiritual leader of Iran is quite simply an act of egregious criminality," they added.

"Keir Starmer talks of allowing British forces to join the onslaught to ‘defend‘ the UK. Iran has never threatened or attacked Britain.

"We have been witnessing over two years of US / Israel genocide in Gaza and now we see that project being expanded right across the region. The world must intervene and stop this madness.

"We ask the people of Derry to join us at the War Memorial at 6pm tonight (Monday) to raise our collective voices for peace and an end to all imperialist wars.“
