Community safety meeting to be held in Dungiven after recent spate of break-ins

A number of homes in the Dungiven area have been targeted by burglars in recent weeks.

Local residents are encouraged to attend a public/community meeting to discuss the recent spate of break-ins in the Dungiven area over the past number of weeks.

The meeting will take place this Friday, February 6 at 8.15pm in Glór Dungiven.

The meeting follows a number of burglaries and thefts that have taken place in recent weeks.

It's understood three properties were broken into in the Lackagh Park area earlier last month and a van was stolen in the Tracy's Way area of the town on the same night.

Police believe a road traffic collision which happened at Magherabuoy Roundabout in the town is also linked to these incidents.

The meeting has been organised by Sinn Féin councillors Kathleen McGurk and Sean McGlinchey.

Councillor McGurk said: "It will provide an open forum for people to raise concerns, share information, and discuss practical steps that can be taken to improve community safety, including home security advice and the possible establishment of neighbourhood watch schemes.

"All members of the community are welcome and encouraged to attend."
