'We need to embrace green transport and we will continue to call for Active Travel to be a priority moving forward' - Cllr Patricia Logue.
Derry City and Strabane District councillor Patricia Logue (Sinn Féin) has welcomed the Department for Infrastructure's announcement of active travel funding for three local projects.
Derry City and Strabane District council is one of three local authorities to receive confirmation from Infrastructure Minister Liz Kimmins funding of over £1m is being made available to deliver seven active travel projects.
“I welcome the news that Minister Liz Kimmins has issued letters of offer to deliver funding that, locally, will help move forward the greenway lighting projects at Foyle Valley, Bay Road and Drumahoe Park," said Cllr Logue.
“Sinn Féin has been pushing for more money for greenways and cycle lanes to encourage safe, active travel throughout our city and district. Lighting up these greenways will greatly enhance safety and encourage more people out to walk, run and cycle and bring about more positive healthy outcomes.
“We need to embrace green transport and we will continue to call for Active Travel to be a priority moving forward.”
