Mid Ulster Sports Awards 2025 nominees announced

The winners will be announced in November.

The finalists contending for a prestigious honour at the Mid Ulster District Council Sports Awards 2025 have been revealed, showcasing a diverse array of individuals recognised for their exceptional sporting skills and achievements.

The nominees span various categories, encompassing individuals, teams, coaches, and groups, as well as inspirational volunteers and Unsung Heroes.

The Council received a huge number of nominations, representing a broad spectrum of sporting accomplishments. While everyone’s achievements were impressive, those outstanding nominees secured a spot on the shortlist in nine different categories. The sheer number of entries underlines that the Mid Ulster District is a hub for inclusive sporting excellence.

The independent judging panel was not only impressed by the quantity but also by the exceptionally high quality of the nominations received.

The shortlisted nominees are:

Volunteer of the Year: Arnold Mc Lean; Clare Mc Hugh; Darren Winton; Justin Croucher; Stephen Cuddy

Unsung Hero of the Year: Barrie Holmes; David Harrigan; Elizabeth (Beth) Irwin; Shane Stringer

Coach of the Year: Harry Mc Guigan; Adrian Kelly; Gary O’ Doherty; Judith Quigley; Niall Bell

Young Sportsperson of the Year (under 18): Aliyah Rafferty; Charlie Taggart; Dillon Mc Elroy; Eimear O’ Neill; Evie Girvan; Jack Mc Kee; Tom Coyle

Sportsperson of the Year (disability): Deaten Registe; Barry Mc Elhatton; Ciara Hagan; Clíodhna O'Neill

Team of the Year: Tyrone U20 GAA Footballers; Dungannon Swifts FC; Maghera Cricket Club - 1st Senior Team; Tyrone Ladies GAA Team; Werewolves Basketball Team

Youth Team of the Year:(Under 18): Cookstown High School U14 Hockey Team; Cookstown Fr Rocks Minors GAA; Northern Ireland Junior Tae Kwon-Do Team; Rainey Endowed U14A Hockey Team; Tyrone Minors GAA

Club of the Year: Dungannon Thomas Clarkes GAA; Eagles Special Olympics Club; Magherafelt Sky Blues FC; Mid Ulster Netball Club; Pomeroy Presbyterian Bowling Club

Sportsperson of the Year: Terry Devlin; Joey Clarke; Mark King; Meabh Mallon; Teo Alin
