Committee members Colin Loughrey, Colin Wallace, Gerry Robinson, and Michelle Brolly present the cheque.
A big-hearted Limavady charity collective proudly presented a cheque for £2,420 to the Foyle Hospice, donated from the fundraising proceeds of a charity walk/run held at Roe Valley Country Park on Wednesday, July 30.
The donation was given by committee members Colin Loughrey, Colin Wallace, Gerry Robinson, and Michelle Brolly, who presented the cheque to Ailbhe McDaid and Donall Henderson on behalf of Foyle Hospice.
Local author and long-time supporter of Foyle Hospice, Gerry Robinson, described witnessing first-hand the ways that essential fundraising donations directly support the Hospice’s vital work:
“What a privilege it is to visit Foyle Hospice and see at firsthand, the incredible work that they do.
“To contribute to this most worthy of causes is an absolute pleasure and resonated in our hearts upon our visit.
“Our Limavady based fundraising team organised a 5k walk and run in the Roe Valley Country Park which was extremely well supported by the people of the Roe Valley and other participants who travelled from as far away as Kilrea.
“We wish to thank all participants who donated generously and made this event a rousing success.
“Many other people were unable to take part but donated and again, we extend our gratitude and a heartfelt thank you to them.
“Michelle and I would like to extend a special thank you to Colin Loughrey, Colin Wallace, Geoff and Karen Ferris, Teresa and Debra Dickson and the inspirational Peter Jack.”
Held on a warm, sunny evening, the Fundraising Walk and Run was enjoyed by around 200 participants in the 5k challenge against the beautiful backdrop of Roe Valley Country Park.
The event was organised by Gerry Robinson and friends in support of the Foyle Hospice, a charity that has touched countless lives by providing compassionate end-of-life care for 40 years.
Gerry, a well-known local author, has published several books on local history and poetry, with proceeds generously donated to Foyle Hospice and other worthwhile causes.
Present amongst those attending on the evening, Ailbhe McDaid, Community Fundraising Officer, and Donall Henderson, CEO of Foyle Hospice, warmly thanked everyone for their participation and support in making the evening such a success.
The generous committee of organisers hope this event will be the first of many successful Limavady-based fundraising occasions for this much-loved cause.
