Plans for a new boutique hotel and restaurant in Limavady have been approved by the local council.
The proposal to build a new 30-bedroom hotel on the town's Main Street, with an additional 26 social housing units developed on land behind it, was given the green light by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council last week.
The applicant company – 10 Main Street Ltd – is owned by Declan O'Donovan, whose interests include Astravo Ltd, the company behind contactless guest accommodation Hotel No9 in Derry.
Plans for the Limavady project involve the demolition of existing buildings at 10, 12, 12a Main Street, along with a number of buildings to the rear.
The new build hotel will feature four storeys on the Main Street, with a four storey block erected behind.
The project also includes 26 residential units built in two blocks on land behind the Main Street.
The social housing units will be split into 14 one-bedroom units and 12 two-bed units.
Private and communal amenity spaces access, car parking, cycle bays and landscaping also feature.
In a supporting statement, Jones Architects said: “The proposed development offers the opportunity of rejuvenate an unsightly and vacant area of Main Street.
“The provision of a high quality small scale hotel accommodation within the town centre, something missing at present, together with a restaurant and residential units/residents will be of significant benefit to Limavady.
“This significant investment within Limavady will attract visitors and local residents into the town centre, bring with them increased activity.”
