An online fundraiser has been set up to help support a County Derry man who was found with serious head injuries following an incident last month.
Gary Moore was discovered seriously injured in a house at Garvagh Road, Dungiven, on Monday, May 26.
The dad-of-two remains in hospital following the ‘life-altering’ incident, which is being investigated by the PSNI.
Police have appealed for information in an effort to establish what happened to the Drumsurn native.
Detective Inspector Hanbidge said: “We are seeking assistance from members of the public to help us determine the movements of a man in the hours between 1.30am and 3am, on the morning of Monday 26th May. The man, who is aged in his 40’s, and who was wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans, was dropped off by a friend at Garvagh Road at 1.30am on Monday morning.
“The man remains in a critical condition in hospital and at this time it is unclear exactly where or how he sustained his injuries.
“I would ask anyone who saw a man matching this description in the Garvagh Road area in the early hours of Monday 26th May, or who has dash-cam, CCTV or doorbell footage from the area which could assist us with our enquiries to contact detectives in Coleraine on the non-emergency number 101, quoting reference number 1234 27/05/25. A report can be submitted online using the non-emergency reporting form via make a report or you can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 or online at Crimestoppers.”
Meanwhile, friends of Mr Moore have organised a fundraising afternoon tea to take place this Sunday, June 22 at Ballyness Resort (194 Legavallon Road, Dungiven) between 12noon and 4pm.
There will be raffle prizes on the day and all funds raised will go directly towards Gary’s recovery.
A Go Fund Me page has also been set up for those who are unable to attend the fundraiser - donations can be made here
The page, which was created earlier today, has raised more than £5,000 so far.
Organiser Charlene McCorriston wrote: “Following Gary's recent life-altering incident, the Ballyness Resort will host an afternoon tea fundraising event on Sunday, June 22, 2025, to help support Gary and his family.
“We appreciate that it may not be possible for all of Gary's family, friends, and kind supporters to attend. Therefore, we have created this online link for those who would still like to contribute.
“The kindness and generosity received already by so many people is a testament to how liked and popular Gary is. To know him is to love him.
“Thank you for supporting Gary and his family in their time of need.
“No contribution is too small. If this is not possible, simply sharing this fundraising event would be warmly appreciated.”
