Claudy man proud to announce his candidacy for the Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) in the upcoming general election

Glen Miller, from Claudy, has announced he will be running as a candidate for the UUP in the upcoming Westminster Election.

Meet Glen Miller, a lifelong resident of Claudy and a dedicated member of the community, is proud to announce his candidacy for the Ulster Unionist Party (UUP) in the upcoming general election for East Derry.
At 40 years-old, Glen brings a wealth of experience and a fresh perspective to the race. Having been deeply involved in his family business for many years, Glen understands the challenges and opportunities facing UK national businesses. His involvement with the Boys Brigade highlights his commitment to nurturing young talent and providing opportunities for the next generation to thrive and reach their goals.
Glen is running on a platform that promotes Unionism in a positive and inclusive way, championing the unique strengths of Northern Ireland.
"I feel Unionism has lost its way," Glen said.
"We are now at a crossroads where we can stand shouting 'no' at everything and have a negative vision, or we can promote the Union in a positive way, welcoming all and bringing others with us."
A key focus of Glen's campaign is attracting inward investment in the tourism industry.
"I look at Northern Ireland, especially around my constituency, and see our host of tourism businesses along the north coast. From creative artisan food producers to businesses offering unique experiences, we have so much to offer. Our world-class golf and road racing events put us on the global stage."
Glen also aims to champion farmers, recognising their critical role in both the economy and the environment.
"Our farmers are custodians of the countryside. With rewilding and environmental farming, they can be part of the solution to protecting our environment. We must support them in these efforts."
Addressing the housing crisis is another priority. Glen believes in balancing the need for sustainable tourism with tackling issues such as second home ownership.
"We must ensure that housing is available and affordable for our local communities," he asserts.
Glen's vision for Northern Ireland extends beyond local issues.
"We must sell ourselves and say 'Come and look at us, see what we are achieving and producing.' For too long, Westminster only hears about the negative Northern Irish headlines. It's time they saw the positive side. As the UUP MP, this would be my driving force – to be that voice on the green benches."
Glen is honoured to have been selected as the UUP candidate for East Derry. He calls on voters to support him on July 4.
"You have one chance, one day, and one vote. Let's make it count for a brighter future for East Londonderry and Northern Ireland," he added.
