Limavady Yarnbombers invited to contribute to prestigious Italian festival

Limavady’s colourful annual yarnbombing spectacle by Stendhal Community Group and friends has caught the eye of a notable Italian yarnbombing festival.

Stendhal Community are thrilled to announce that their local yarnbombing group "Limavady Yarnbombers" has been invited to participate in the renowned Yarnbombing Barzanò festival, taking place in Barzanò, outside Milan, Italy.

Stendhal Community are honoured by the invitation from Yarnbombing Barzanò, which recognises the unique and colourful contributions of Limavady community's yarnbombing efforts, highlighting their talent on an international stage.

Glenda Rolston, Stendhal Community and Volunteer Manager expressed her delight at the wonderful news.

"We are incredibly excited to be part of Yarnbombing Barzanò,” she said.

"This is a wonderful opportunity to showcase our community's artistry and to collaborate with fellow yarn enthusiasts from around the globe.

It is a testament to the dedication and creativity of our volunteers, who have transformed our local spaces with their stunning yarn installations.
“We look forward to bringing a piece of Northern Ireland to Italy and celebrating the universal language of art."

This prestigious event celebrates the vibrant art of yarnbombing and brings together creative talents from around the world.
Similar to Limavady Yarnbombers’ recent flamboyant display in the Roe Valley Country Park, this festival will feature a series of yarn installations, workshops, and community events, highlighting the beauty and diversity of yarn art.

Paola Pioppi from the Yarnbombing Barzanò festival was enthusiastic about the collaboration:

"This is the third edition of the festival, which receives wonderful contributions from all over the world, as well as many Italian works.

This year, for the first time, we will have an Irish group exhibiting a work at our Yarn Bombing, and we are very happy.

We want to involve always different realities, for which knitting and crochet, combined with fun, becomes an important moment to be together.”

Limavady Yarnbombers will contribute several pieces to the exhibition, adding to the festival's vibrant tapestry.

Glenda concluded: “Participation in Yarnbombing Barzanò will allows us to share our work with a broader audience but also inspires us to continue exploring new creative possibilities.

We are grateful for this opportunity and look forward to fostering international connections through our shared love of yarnbombing.”
