Sinn Féin Councillor Kathleen McGurk has announced she will be running as a candidate in the upcoming Westminster election.
The Benbradagh councillor has said the upcoming election is 'an opportunity to vote for positive change and to make history by electing the first ever Sinn Féin MP in East Derry'.
Speaking after submitting her nomination papers to stand as a candidate, Kathleen McGurk said: “It is an honour to hand in my nomination papers to run as Sinn Féin’s candidate for East Derry in the upcoming Westminster election.
“This election is your opportunity to endorse strong leadership, positive change and a commitment to work for all.
“It is your chance to send a clear message about what you want for the future and for more investment in public services.
“I am determined to deliver for workers and families and to seize the opportunity to build a better future for everyone who calls this wonderful area home.
“Let’s make history by electing the first ever Sinn Féin MP in East Derry. Vote Kathleen McGurk on Thursday 4 July.”
