Man (53) charged with the murder of Limavady teenager Blake Newland

The accused is due to appear before Coleraine Magistrates Court on Friday morning

Blake Newland died in hospital after he was stabbed multiple times on Friday night

Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Major Investigation Team, investigating the murder of 17-year-old Blake Newland in Limavady have charged a 53-year-old man with murder.

He is expected to appear before Coleraine Magistrates’ Court tomorrow Friday, February 9.

As is usual procedure, the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

Blake was stabbed in the Woodland Walk area last Friday night and died from his injuries in hospital.

The teenager was laid to rest earlier today following a funeral service in his grandmother's home.
