Derry Anti War Coalition: 'Heartfelt gratitude' to the hundreds in Walk of Derry's Walls for Palestine.
The Derry Anti War Coalition (DAWC) have expressed their "heartfelt gratitude" to the hundreds of people who took part in the Christmas Day, walk of Derry's Walls for Palestine.
DAWC spokesperson Davey McAuley said the walk had been a "symbolic gesture of solidarity with the Palestinian people, who are suffering under the brutal occupation and oppression of Israel".
He added: "We wanted to show that we will speak up for Palestine 365 days of the year. The Palestinian people are not alone, and we stand with them in the face of genocidal Israeli attacks.
"However the blame for the war crimes in Gaza and the West Bank does not solely lie with the Israeli regime. The British government continues to support Israel's war crimes and violations of international law.
"Christmas was cancelled in Bethlehem thanks to Britain and America. Without Western support Israel's apartheid, murder machine could not function. The West refuse to stop arming and funding Israel. They completely disregard international law.
"That is why we must keep implementing Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions. Ordinary people can punish Israel in a way the powerful refuse to do.
"The Derry Anti War Coalition wishes to thank the Irish Palestinian Solidarity Campaign and and all other groups who have campaigned for justice in Palestine. We wish all supporters a peaceful New Year. Let 2024 be the year when the people of the world unite for Palestine and justice across the Middle East. Derry stands with Palestine."
