Zachary Geddis Break the Silence Trust (ZGBTST) is launching its Alternative Christmas Campaign over
the festive period.
This initiative was put in place to help people suffering with mental health issues throughout the
Causeway Coast and Glens area.
“We at Zachary Geddis Break the Silence Trust understand that Christmas can be a difficult time for those
who are experiencing feelings of hopelessness, loneliness, grief and sadness,” said Yasmin Geddis, the
founder of ZGBTST.
The charity aims to bring a bit of joy in people's life by delivering food and wellbeing packs to the needy,
along with crisis intervention services over the festive season.
Last year they delivered food and wellbeing packages to 207 homes across the Causeway Coast and Glens
borough.
ZGBTST was first founded in 2017 when Yasmin's brother Zachary died through suicide and since then
they have been helping others with mental health issues.
They offer counselling, mentoring and therapy groups.
This year the charity received funding by the council to continue their work.
“With the support of £3,000 from Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, this year has
an even greater capacity to help those in need at Christmas than ever before," continued Yasmin.
The food and wellbeing packages will be delivered daily from December 18 to 26.
However, their action does not stop there, they will also open a helpline to provide counselling.
“We will also be offering a daily befriending service, crisis helpline and extended
counselling over this period,” Yasmin said.
“We urge those who are struggling this Christmas to sign up to the campaign – you are not
alone and help is available.”
Requests for packs can be made via surveyhero.com/c/fneishcp or by contacting ZGBTST by emailing
info@zgbtst.org or calling 07934187147.
