ELECTION - Derg Ward

Alliance Party candidate - Ann Murray

Anne Murray is standing for the Alliance Party in Derry City and Strabane District Council's Derg Ward in the upcoming Local Government Elections on May 18.

Strabane-born Anne Murray graduated from Queen's University and was a teacher for many years and the founding Principal of Oakgrove Integrated Primary School and Nursery.

Ms Murray was appointed by the Minister for Education to be a member of the Costello Report Working Group on post-primary education transfer process. She is currently a board member of the NI Council for Integrated Education and of Lifestart, which supports parents in the early years of child development.

Her focuses in Derg are the rising cost of food and heat, and people’s difficulty in paying to meet these rising prices; as well as the proper resourcing of local schools and teachers.

Ms Murray said: "We need jobs in rural areas and for people not living in a town centre, good transport links and good roads are simply essential every day."
