Tributes paid to popular Derry man Satnam Singh Gill

The popular Derry man was the operator of Satnam’s Garage based at Beragh Hill Road, Ballyarnett

Tributes have been paid to Satnam Singh Gill who sadly passed away at the end of last month.

Mr Singh Gill died suddenly on December 30 at 67 years old.

The popular Derry man was the operator of Satnam’s Garage based at Beragh Hill Road, Ballyarnett.

He established the motor maintenance business in 1975.

A family notice announcing his passing read: “Satnam Singh Gill sadly passed away on 30th December 2022, aged 67.

“Son of late Darshan Singh Gill and late Swaran Kaur Gill.

“Beloved husband of Satvir Kaur Gill.

“Loving brother of Ajit Singh (Peter), Nirmal Kaur and Gian Kaur. Wonderful brother-in-law to Primaljit.

“Devoted Father and Uncle of Ropie, Babu, Lisa, Raja, Sahib and Joban. Loved by all his family and friends and will be sorely missed

“Funeral arrangements to follow.

“Family flowers only.

SDLP Foyle MLA Mark H Durkan has paid his own personal tribute to Satnam.

Mr Durkan wrote: “Shocked and saddened to learn of the passing of well known Derry man, Satnam Singh Gill.

“My thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time.

“Ar dheis De go raibh a anam uasal.”
