Foyle Golf Centre turns pink for Cancer Focus NI and local breast cancer research

Foyle Ladies recently hosted their annual pink day open with great success with approximately 86 men and ladies taking part and raising a fantastic £851 for Cancer Focus NI.

Avril Gallagher, Lady President at Foyle Golf Centre, said:

“Cancer Focus NI is a charity close to all our hearts so we wanted to show our support and help to raise awareness of their In Pink campaign during October – breast cancer awareness month,” she said.

“We choose to support Cancer Focus NI each year as we know all our money is staying right here in Northern Ireland to help to fund potentially life-saving research into breast cancer at one of our own local universities - Queen’s University Belfast.”

Suzie Colledge, from Cancer Focus NI, said:

“We are delighted that everyone at Foyle Golf Centre supported us once again. Each year they tirelessly raise fantastic funds for our locally based research and raise awareness for breast cancer.

“Breast cancer is the most common cancer in women in Northern Ireland – every year 1,300 are diagnosed and 300 lose their lives. It’s so important for women to know about the signs and symptoms of the disease – we know that early diagnosis saves lives.”

Cancer Focus NI is calling on the people of Derry/Londonderry to come together to show their support in any way they can and hold a pink inspired event.

Cancer Focus NI has come up with a whole host of fundraising ideas. You could wear something pink for a day, get together with your friends, family, school, community, group or club to have a catch up over a coffee and some cake with pink icing. You might organise a girly night in with a movie, snacks and something strawberry flavoured to sip on, or go all out and book a local hall or hotel for an In Pink party.
