Ferguson calls on British government to properly fund Executive

‘This underfunding has resulted in our public services being put under severe pressure’
Foyle Sinn Féin MLA Ciara Ferguson has called on the British government to properly fund the Executive to enable them to set a Budget.
Ms Ferguson said: “The the British Secretary of State stated it was the "responsibility" of the Executive and Ministers in the power-sharing administration to “do their jobs” and set a Budget.
“I would say it is the responsibility of the British government and the British Secretary of State to ensure the Executive receives adequate funding.
“It’s not acceptable that public services here receive less funding compared to Scotland and Wales to the tune of between £1-3 billion pounds.
“This underfunding has resulted in our public services being put under severe pressure and has been compounded by increased energy costs that are impacting on already struggling families; businesses and communities.
“The British government must now act and urgently address the underfunding of our public services.”
