Proud Donegal man, Evertonian and Republic of Ireland international soccer star Seamus Coleman (26) married his childhood sweetheart Rachel Cunningham this afternoon.
The weather held out and along with a star studded line out of family and guests being, the day was enhanced by a sizeable number of well wishers and locals from his native Killybegs.
The newly weds, who have been dating since they were fifteen, shared their very special day with about 300 guests at the St Mary Church of the Visitation in Killybegs.
Later they held their reception in the renowned Harvey’s Point Hotel on the shores of Lough Eske, in his native county. Ireland and Everton football stars were among the distinguished guest list along with midfielder James McCarthy, who was in the official wedding party as groomsman.
Ireland stars Aidan McGeady, James McClean, with his girlfriend Erin O’Connor, were among the guests as was Seamie’s Everton team-mate Steve Naismith and his wife Moya.
Seamie made his debut for his local St. Catherine's club, before moving to Sligo Rovers and later Everton. He played full-back on last Saturday's crunch encounter with Scotland in the Aviva Stadium, but that 1-1 draw will be a distant memory, as he now goes and celebrates the most important day of his young life.
Well done and congratulations Seamie and Rachel!
