Principal's message from Ryan Crawford

It is both a privilege and a great honour to be the Principal of Cumber Claudy Primary School here as it celebrates 30 years.

I was appointed as principal, two years ago into the post and every day, I am reminded of the unique and vibrant spirit that defines our school community - a spirit rooted in kindness, respect, and a shared commitment to nurturing the potential of every child.

I have felt so welcomed by staff, children and the wider community - this is something that all visitors say they experience when walking through our school doors and is a credit to the staff and children inside.

At Cumber Claudy, we are more than just a school; we are a family. Our dedicated staff, supportive parents, and enthusiastic pupils work together to create a team in an environment where learning is joyful, inclusive, and meaningful. It is a place where children are encouraged to dream big, to persevere, and to grow not only academically, but also socially and emotionally.

Our motto at Cumber Claudy Primary School is 'Every Child Matters' and as a whole school community we truly believe that every child is a unique individual, and an important piece of the jigsaw that comes together as our school community.  We aim to develop every child to their full potential in a nurturing, supportive and safe environment where they feel valued and included in all we do in our school.

Being entrusted with the leadership of such a special school is a responsibility I hold with deep respect. I am continually inspired by the resilience, creativity, and encouragement to others, and I am proud to work alongside a team of educators who go above and beyond to make a difference in the lives of young learners.

Together, we aim to uphold the values that make Cumber Claudy Primary School a place of excellence and warmth in our community.  I look forward to continuing this journey, as we build on our successes and embrace the opportunities that lie ahead within an amazing, achieving and inclusive school here in the centre of Claudy.
