Independent councillor Gary Donnelly tops the Moor poll.

Moor comprises four district electoral areas: Brandywell, City Walls, Creggan, and Creggan South. It has 5 seats.

In 2014, it returned 3 Sinn Féin, 1 SDLP and 1 Independent candidate.

In 2019, it returned 2 Sinn Féin, 1 SDLP, 1 People Before Profit and 1 Independent candidate. People Before Profit gained a seat from Sinn Féin.

In 2023, Moor returned 3 Sinn Féin, 1 Independent and 1 SDLP candidate.

The candidates elected to Derry City and Strabane District Council last week were: John Boyle (SDLP), Gary Donnelly (Independent), Aisling Hutton (Sinn Féin), Patricia Logue (Sinn Féin), and Emma McGinley (Sinn Féin).

Darryl Christy (Aontú), Michael Downey (Alliance), Dermott Henderson (SDLP) and Maeve O’Neill (People Before Profit) were eliminated.

Independent candidate Gary Donnelly topped the Moor poll with 1,868 votes. He and new councillor, Aisling Hutton, were elected on the first count.

The first preference tallies were: John Boyle (761), Darryl Christy (301), Gary Donnelly (1,868), Michael Downey (146), Dermott Henderson (445), Aisling Hutton (1,317), Patricia Logue (1,069), Emma McGinley (912), and Maeve O’Neill (578).

In 2023, the total number of the Moor electorate was 13,403. The Turnout was 56.69%. There were 7,598 votes cast. There were 201 invalid votes. There were 7,397 valid votes and the quota was set at 1,233.

The party share of the vote in Moor was: Alliance 2%, Aontú 4%, Independent 25%, People Before Profit 8%, SDLP 16% and Sinn Féin 45%.
