A Rottweiler has been seized after attacking a man on Sunday morning in Muff.

The man, aged in his 20s, was bitten by the dog as he was out running between Muff and Quigley's Point on the greenway.

Gardai were alerted to the incident and launched a probe.

The injured man was taken to Altnagelvin Hospital in Derry for emergency treatment on a leg injury.

On Monday, Gardai obtained a warrant under the Control of Dogs Act, 1986 at Letterkenny District Court.

Gardai and members of the Dog Warden unit called to a private residence in the Muff area.

After some consultation with the dog’s owner, a Rottweiler was removed from the house.

No arrests have been made and it is understood that the dog is now in the care of the Dog Warden.

The owner of the dog and the victim have made statements to Gardai about the incident.
