A hotel in Upperlands has been ranked number three in the Best Small Hotel in the UK category in Tripadvisor's Travellers’ Choice awards – while one in Portstewart has come 24th.

The annual ranking includes more than eight million properties listed on the website across a variety of different categories. It selects the winner based on customer feedback.

Ardtara Country House in Upperlands was named the third Best Small Hotel in the UK category, and 18th in Europe.

In Portstewart, Me and Mr Jones – a luxurious boutique hotel and wine bar – came 24th in the same category.

A representative of Ardtara Country House thanked its customers for reviewing them so highly.

“This accolade from Trip Advisor is a testament to the trust and appreciation shown by our valued guests who have shared their remarkable experiences. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of you for choosing Ardtara as your preferred destination and for being a part of our journey,” they said.

“In a highly competitive industry, this achievement highlights the remarkable dedication and expertise of our team. Their commitment to going above and beyond ensures that every guest receives an extraordinary experience. It is this unwavering passion that has established Ardtara as Trip Advisors’ ‘Best of the Best’ 2023.”

Ardtara Country House is a converted 19th century mansion, which sits among traditional Victorian gardens, millponds and woodland.

It was once a family home to the Clark linen barons and remained a family home until the 1970s but became empty until 1990. In the nineties it was bought and converted into a hotel.

“If you have personally experienced the exceptional hospitality of Ardtara, you will attest to the well-deserved nature of this recognition. From the moment you step into our Victorian Country House, you will have been captivated by its elegance and charm. The attention to detail, warm hospitality, and unforgettable dining experiences truly make Ardtara stand out.

“Surrounded by breathtaking landscapes, Ardtara offers a tranquil escape for those seeking an elegant retreat. Our team's commitment to creating a Foodie Destination elevates the allure of Ardtara, providing guests with exceptional dining experiences that are truly memorable.

“Moving forward, our dedication remains unwavering as we strive to set new standards and provide the highest level of service in the industry. Our goal is to continue offering a luxurious escape where guests can unwind, recharge, and create cherished memories,” the representative said.
