Derry City FC have signed defender Jamie Stott from Morecambe.
The 27-year old has joined the Brandywell club on an 18-month deal offering a new option as a left-sided centre-back.
Jamie (Jay) was voted Players’ Player of the Season at Morecambe for the season just past.
Stott counts Oldham Athletic, Stockport and Halifax Town among his previous clubs.
Welcoming his latest signing, City boss Tiernan Lynch said: "Jamie comes here with plenty of experience in the EFL and National League and will strengthen our defensive options ahead of a very busy few months.
“He’s a big, strong lad and seems happy with the ball at his feet.
“He just arrived this morning and took part in a full training session today and we’re really looking forward to working with him.”
Meanwhile, midfielder Ciaron Harkin departs Brandywell after a 6-year stint in his second spell at the club as he joins Sligo Rovers on a permanent deal.
Harkin made 109 appearances for the Candystripes, including 6 in the 2025 season.
He memorably grabbed a hat trick against local rivals Finn Harps in his first season, as City strolled to a 4-1 victory in May 2019.
The 29-year-old Derry native missed the 2022 and 2023 season suffering back-to-back ACL injuries. He joined Coleraine on loan in July 2024 and returned to Brandywell for the start of the 2025 season.
Paying tribute to Harkin, Tiernan Lynch said: “Everyone knows the type of player, and indeed the type of person that ‘Jackie’ is.
“He gives you everything in training and on the pitch, and it shows the strength of character to come back after two ACL injuries.
“All at the club wishes him every success for the future”
