Peter Hutton unveiled as new Institute boss

Derry City

Peter Hutton is the new manager of Institute.

Institute have appointed Peter Hutton as the club's new manager.

The NIFL Championship side have moved quickly to replace Kevin Deery, who departed the club just 24 hours ago after two years in charge.

It is Hutton's first senior role in football since leaving his position as Derry City manager in 2015, during which time he led the club to the 2014 FAI Cup Final and also the highest ever win in Europe, a 9-0 aggregate win over Welsh side Aberystwyth a year later.

Hutton has since worked with Derry City's underage teams, helping develop the next generation of local stars, but he has now decided to return to  senior role.

A statement from Institute read: "Institute Football Club is excited to announce that Peter Hutton has agreed to be our new First Team Manager.

"The Club’s Executive Committee considered a number of potential candidates. However, Peter’s professional demeanor, extensive experience, and legendary status ensured that he was the club’s primary target from the outset and we are absolutely delighted to be starting the 25/26 season with Peter at the helm.

"We know that our fans and our players will embrace this appointment and we look forward to an exciting future under Peter’s leadership.

"Additional details, outlining Peter’s support staff will be announced in due course."
