The third round of the Junior Football Championship (JFC) was played on August 14.

Only three fixtures were played due to Group A having an extra team, so the games were played to ensure it finishes at the same time as Group B in the championship before the next round.

Ballymaguigan continued the defence of their title with a win over Doire Trasna. It has all but ensured their progress to the quarterfinals after three wins from three. The scoreline of 4-9 to 0-12 inflicted the third straight defeat to Trasna, and this leaves them in a precarious position, with the Waterside club needing to find form and soon to progress in the JFC.

Lissan came out on top at home in a tight affair with Ballerin, winning on a scoreline of 0-10 to 1-6. It was their second win, placing them in second and giving them a strong chance of progressing. Ballerin will not be concerned, as they have already secured two victories and look confident in their chances of reaching the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, the third game of the night was between two sides, not expecting to progress. Ardmore faced off against Sean Dolans, with the loser likely to exit the championship, if not yet mathematically impossible to progress.

The Creggan club came out on top away to Ardmore on a scoreline of 1-9 to 1-5. Dolans have kept their hopes alive for a championship quarterfinal, particularly with their next game against Trasna. They could eliminate Trasna and put themselves in a great position in Group A.
