Donegal Rally winners Callum Devine and Noel O'Sullivan
Callum Devine and Noel O’Sullivan have won the 2024 Wilton Recycling Donegal International Rally.
The pair have retained the title they won last year by finishing 17.4 seconds ahead of Meirion Evans and Ger Conway in second place, while third place was taken by Donegal duo David Kelly and Dean O’Sullivan.
The pair of Devine and O’Sullivan saw out Fanad Head with a time of 10.26.03 while Meirion Evans and his co-driver Ger Conway finished Stage 20 three seconds quicker with 10.23.04, while David Kelly in his VW Polo secured a podium spot with a time of 10.23.
While Gartan wasn’t kind to Devine last year, he managed to come through all the stages and took maximum points finishing out with the win as he did today.
“It’s amazing . . . it hasn’t sunk in yet, I think this time I’m trying to teach myself not to cry this time,” Devine said with a laugh.
Taking the win in Donegal, it’s worthy to note that Devine midway through 2024 decided to change his car from a Polo to a Skoda, with this rally in Donegal being the first time he used the car on the road.
“The pace this year was amazing. Obviously, changing the car for this event was a big step and we had an awful lot of work to do, but yeah, I’m thrilled.
"It was very late notice when we got the car so it’s great that we got the win in the Skoda.”
