Sean Dolan's recently presented a cheque of £23,000 to the family of Adam Roberts-Lynch, following last week's 'Relay for Adam' fundraiser at the club.

The 12-hour event took place last Sunday and saw over one thousand people across the community visit Piggery Ridge to show their support for the 13-year-old, who suffered a horrible accident recently and who faces a battle to walk again.

A spokesperson for Seán Dolans GAC said, "As a club we're overwhelmed with the support that flooded in once we announced this fundraising effort in support of young Adam, who plays for our u15 team.

"We would like to commend Ryan McLaughlin, the u15's coach, who came up with idea of the relay, and was instrumental in organising the day.

"We couldn't believe the turnout on the day - around 1600 people were up at the club using the walking track around the pitch to participate in the relay throughout the 12 hours. We had a bit of a fun day with inflatables and music - something for everyone really.

"There were other Gaelic teams, soccer clubs, running clubs, the youth service and loads of different groups, families and representatives, who came together to support us in this effort. It truly was a community effort supported by many right across the city.

"It would be impossible to thank everyone individually, but to all those who gave their time, donations, food & refreshments on the day, provided the music, inflatables and everything else that made the day a success, we are very grateful.

"It was an emotional day, but particularly as the u15's - Adam's team - took the lead for the last lap of the Relay. That really was a special moment for us as a club and you could really feel the sense of community.

"We are delighted to announce that the event raised £23,000 to support the Roberts - Lynch family in their time ahead, as Adam continues on his road of recovery.

"This event really showed what the club is all about - our community, and supporting one another when it is needed.

"A few of our members visited Adam this week and made the presentation of the cheque, and we'd say Adam is in good spirits and his determination is second to none.

"Our thoughts continue to be with Adam and his family and we're with them every step of the journey ahead."
