Foyle Harps completed step one of what they hope will be a third successive D&D treble with a comprehensive victory over Brewery in the McAlinden Cup final.

This game, played at Wilton Park, was over as a contest by half time with Harps 4-0 to the good. Shane Boyle headed Harps in front early on, although Brewery passed up the chance to equalise immediately when Connor Brown saved Gareth Doherty's poor penalty.

It was 2-0 after 26 minutes when Calvin McCallion scored a sensational goal, controlling the ball out of the sky and lobbing goalkeeper Oisin Farrell.

McCallion then made it 3-0 from the penalty spot before Ryan Doherty produced an exquisite lobbed finish to make it 4-0.

Brewery, to their credit, never gave up but luck was completely against them in the second half as they missed an incredible amount of chances, even hitting the post twice.

Dean Brown made it 5-0 before Johnny Robb scored a consolation at last for Brewery.

Gareth Brown was then red-carded, leaving Harps to play the final 20 minutes with 10 men, but despite chance after chance, Brewery couldn't find the net again.

Foyle Harps will have the chance to win their eighth D&D trophy in just three years when they meet Newell this coming Monday in the Terry Kelly Cup final. The game will be played at Wilton Park with a 6:45pm kick-off.
