Creggan Swifts have been crowned the Mintbet Saturday Morning League Premier Division champions after a one-sided display against Rosemount at Wilton Park.
Jack Coyle was the Creggan hero, scoring a hat trick, while PJ Ward added two more following the second half dismissal of Rosemount midfielder Davy O’Brien.
There was little between the sides until two goals in two minutes just after the half hour. The deadlock was broken when Eoin Coyle’s cross was cushioned down by Con McAllister into the path of Coyle, who volleyed into the net from 20 yards.
It was 2-0 within a minute when Coyle scored from the penalty spot after goalkeeper Lee Wade had fouled Ward.
Creggan wasted no time making it 3-0, and just two minutes into the second half, Coyle completed his treble when he finished off from close range following a corner.
Rosemount’s day got worse when O’Brien was then sent off for using foul and abusive language towards the match official and the game was over with 30 minutes still to play.
Countless chances came and went for Creggan, before Ward finally got on the score sheet with eight minutes remaining, tapping in after dispossessing substitute goalkeeper Paul Simon Tracey.
There was still time for one more, and Ward doubled his tally from 12 yards when Creggan were awarded a second penalty deep into added time at the end of the game.
