Scott Rankin and Claire McGuigan were the winners of the 2023 Bentley Bar Derry 10-miler which had over 1500 participants running through the city at the weekend.

Thankfully, the predicted cold weather snap was not as bad as feared, and the race was able to go ahead thanks to the hard work of volunteers and council workers, who worked together to ensure the entire course was safe for the runners come Saturday morning.

Foyle Valley's Rankin was the clear winner this year as he crossed the finish line well ahead of his closest opponent, completing the course in a time of 52:32. He was followed by City pf Derry Spartan Allan Bogle in a time of 54:23. Bogle, who is training for the London Marathon, will be pleased with his performance and his time. In third place was another Foyle Valley runner, Matthew McLaughlin, who came home in 55:09. There was a good local presence in the top ten with Foyle Valley duo Pius McIntyre and Johnny Canning finishing in sixth and seventh place respectively.

In the ladies' event, Lifford's McLaughlin was first home in a time of 58:56 well ahead of Annadale's Sarah Jane Cooke in 101:48. Danielle Logue was the third lady home in a time of 1:04:25.
