Kildare 0-7

Derry 2-15

Derry made it four wins from four outings at St Conleth's Park, Newbridge, this afternoon as they defeated an extremely poor Kildare side with some ease.

On top from the word go, the visitors were never in any danger and were always headed for victory once full forward Shane McGuigan opened the scoring after two minutes. Points followed from McGowan, Niall Toner and McGuigan again and Benny Heron as the Oakleafers dominated the early stages.

Kildare opened their tally with a Niall Flynn free but Derry hit the Kildare net on k30 minutes, a well worked goal from Niall McLoughlin after a great cross from Niall McLoughlin.

By half time the visitors led by an impressive 1-8 to 0-3. And all that while the men in red were playing against a stiff breeze.

On the resumption the expected backlash from the home side never materialised as Derry continued to dominate all over the field.

Ethan Doherty extended the lead before goal number two arrived when that man McGuigan found the net to put the game to bed.

Kildare missed a number of point chances as Derry continued to pile up the scores and but for some expert saves from Mark Donnellan in the Kildare goals the margin of victory could have been  much greater.

In the end Derry had all of 14 points to spare and were worth each and every one of those.
