£250 piece of Aberdeen Angus meat
A Tesco store in Derry is selling Northern Irish Aberdeen Angus carvery beef rib roast for £60 per kilogram.
One shopper was shocked to find the product on sale at this price in the Lisnagelvin Tesco store.
Sinead Aoibheann Quinn took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to inform consumers about the price of this product.
She said: “I commented on a post about the price of meat in a fridge in a shop in Dalkey a week ago. Mate just sent me this. He's in Tesco Lisnagelvin doing his shopping. £250 piece of meat. But don't worry; the clubcard price is only £125."
While the product in the image costs £251.88, it can be reduced to £125.94 if the consumer has a clubcard.
Chris, a butcher at Maiden City Butchers, was shocked when he saw the price that Tesco was charging.

He said: “That is ridiculous, for that Aberdeen angus, no that is not right.
“We would never do that here, or charge anywhere near that, but I suppose that is a big corporation for you.
“It is why people should shop local when buying their meat, for that better quality and evidently price too.”
A spokesperson from Tesco confirmed the pricing on the product was correct.
