Friends of the Derry Walls announce June lecture on new DNA Museum

DCSDC Museum Service Manager Margaret Edwards to share progress updates on the upcoming Ebrington flagship attraction.
The Friends of The Derry Walls June 2026 public lecture will feature an update on the city's upcoming landmark cultural development: the Derry on the North Atlantic (DNA) Museum.
Scheduled for later this month, the keynote lecture will be delivered by Margaret Edwards, the Derry City and Strabane District Council (DCSDC) Museum Service Manager. Edwards will provide a comprehensive progress report on the construction and curatorial vision for the new facility, which is currently being developed on the historic Ebrington site.
The DNA Museum is designed to celebrate the city and wider district's deep-rooted historical connections with the North Atlantic. The institution aims to explore how global maritime stories and local figures have collectively shaped the region's distinctive identity. Once completed, the facility is expected to serve as a flagship tourism attraction and a vital addition to the city's historic landscape.
The event is entirely free to the public, though organisers strongly advise attendees to register their places in advance due to limited capacity. While there is no admission fee, donations to support the ongoing historical preservation work of The Friends of the Derry Walls will be welcomed on the evening.
