It is with deep regret we announce the passing of Margaret Mary (Maureen) Bresland, November 16 2025, Peacefully at Foyle Hospice (surrounded by her loving family) much loved sister of John, Hugh, Ronnie and the late Jim, loving sister-in-law of Catherine, dear aunt of Daniel, Emily and Daniel’s wife Emily and Maureen’s faithful friend Banbi the Dog. Service of Thanksgiving in D & R Hay & Sons Funeral Home, 24A, Church Road, Altnagelvin, Derry BT47 3QQ on Wednesday, November 19 at 10.30am, followed by burial in Mountcastle Cemetery. Family flowers only, donations in lieu if desired (cheques made payable to) Foyle Hospice c/o Mrs Ruth Hay, Funeral Director (above address) (email address please for receipts). Everyone is welcome to call at the Funeral Home today (Tuesday) from 2.00pm until 4.00pm and evening 6.00pm until 8.00pm. Dearly loved and will be sadly missed by the entire family circle. "The Lord is my Shepherd”

 

Derek (Douger) Gilmour, Brookhill House, Newmills Road, Coleraine

The death has taken place of Derek (Douger) Gilmour, November 16 2025, (peacefully) at his home, Brookhill House, Newmills Road, Coleraine, dearly loved son of the late Jonny and Mary, much loved brother of Betty, Martha, William and the late David, Warren, Jeannie, John and Kenneth and a beloved uncle and great-uncle. Service in Murdock’s Funeral Home, 2A Windsor Avenue, Coleraine on Wednesday at 2.00pm followed by interment in Coleraine Cemetery. Donations if desired for Macmillan Nurses c/o Ivan Murdock and Sons, 31 Bushmills Road, Coleraine. Family and friends welcome at Murdock’s Funeral Home on Tuesday from 6.00pm to 8.00pm. Deeply regretted by his loving family and entire family circle.

 

Gary Hamilton, 28 Rossnagalliagh Park, Derry

The death has occurred of the late Gary Hamilton, November 16 2025 loving father of Jayden, Daria, Faith, Cillian and the late baby Gary, beloved son of Jimmy and the late May, stepson of Paula, cherished brother of Aising, Niall, Louise and Lauryn, a much loved uncle, friend and partner of Danielle. Sadly missed and loved by all the Duffy and Hamilton families. His remains will be reposing in his home, 28 Rossnagalliagh Park. Funeral from there on Wednesday at 10.30am for 11o’clock Requiem Mass in St Joseph’s Church, Galliagh. Interment afterwards in the City Cemetery. Family time please from 10.00pm to 11.00am. Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on his soul.

 

Ian Mitchell Hyndman, 16 Durham Park, Kilfennan, Derry

The death has occurred of the late Ian Mitchell Hyndman, November 16 2025, Suddenly at Altnagelvin Hospital, much loved and devoted husband of Avril, precious father of Lyndsey and Richard, loving father-in-law of Peter and Raven, cherished brother of Rae, Ross and the late Billy and Jacqueline, a dear brother-in-law and uncle. Funeral leaving his late home, 16 Durham Park, Kilfennan, on Wednesday, November 19, at 1.00pm followed by a Service of Thanksgiving for his life in Glendermott Presbyterian Church at 1.30pm burial afterwards in adjoining burial ground. Family flowers only, donations in lieu if desired to Glendermott Presbyterian Church c/o Mrs Joanna Walker, 28, Church Road, Altnagelvin, Derry BT47 3QQ. The death has occurred of the late David Eugene Laverty, November 16 2025, peacefully in Melmount Manor Nursing Home. Late of Rushcroft Avenue. Dearly beloved husband of Kathleen, devoted father of Janice, Paul, Linda and Sharon. Dear Father-in-law of Robert, Shirley, Derek and Andrew. Loving grandfather and great grandfather. Service of Thanksgiving for his life on Wednesday, November 19 at 1.00pm in Kilfennan Presbyterian Church. Robert (Bobby) Martin, Derry

The death has taken place of Robert (Bobby) Martin, November 12 2025, peacefully at Rush Hall Care Home, Limavady, formerly of Troy Park, Derry, beloved son of the late Agatha and Joe (Moville), loving brother of Don and the late Joe, cherished brother-in-law of Martha and a much loved uncle and cousin. Everyone is welcome to pay their respects at W J O’Brien & Son’s Funeral Home, 110 Clooney Road, Eglinton, on Friday, November 21 2025 from 5 00pm – 6.00pm. Bobby will then be removed from there to repose overnight in St Pius Church, Moville. Requiem Mass will be celebrated there on Saturday at 10o'clock. Interment afterwards in Ballybrack Cemetery. Sacred Heart of Jesus have mercy on his soul.

The death has occurred of the late Ivan Moffatt, November 16 2025, (peacefully) at hospital, 6 Hopefield Grove, Portrush, dearly loved husband of Anne, a much loved father of Stephen and Gary, dear father-in-law of Anne, devoted granda of Stephanie and her husband Brenden and great granda of Ruby and Aidan. Service in his home on Thursday at 1.00pm followed by interment in Ballywillan Cemetery. Family flowers only please. May she rest in peace. Late of 45 Glenbracken Drive, Feeny, Co Derry. Beloved wife of Billy. Loving mother of Aisling (Kevin), Liam (Janice), Ronan (Abi), Orlaith (Colin), Ruairi (Alex), Colm (Seung Hui) and Aaron (Mandy). Devoted grandmother to her 23 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Daughter of the late James and Agnes RIP and dear sister of the late Kathleen RIP. It is with deep sorrow and great sadness that we announce the passing of Willie McCauley, peacefully at Altnagelvin Hospital on November 17 2025. Late of 9 Shandon Park. May he rest in peace. Beloved husband of Mae. Devoted father of Rosaleen (Mickie), Kieran (Moira), Leo, Conor (Michaela), Caoimhe (Anthony) and the late Willie. A much loved granda to all of his loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dearest brother of Leo, Phil and the late Jim, Mona, Sadie, Bridie and Pam. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by all of his wider family circle, friends and neighbours. Willie’s remains will be reposing at his late home, 9 Shandon Park. Brigid O'Neill (née Burke), Magherafelt

The death has taken place of the late Brigid O'Neill (née Burke), November 16 2025, died suddenly but peacefully. Beloved wife of Hughie and much loved mother of Orla, Damian and Eugene, mother-in-law to Michael - devoted grandmother to Elise and Daire. Daughter of the late Kathleen and John, sister of Mary (O'Boyle), Harry, Joe, Rosie (Scullion), Margaret, Eddie, Barney, Theresa (Glass), Kevin and the late Marie (Mullen) and the late infant Christopher. Funeral arrangements later. St Padre Pio pray for her. Sadly missed by her loving husband, daughter and sons, son-in-law and grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews and extended family circle. The wake for Brigid has not yet commenced.

 

Angela Shiels, Derry

It is with deep sorrow and great sadness that we announce the passing of Angela Shiels, suddenly at home on November 15 2025. Formerly of 262 Lecky Road. May she rest in peace. Beloved mother of Jason, Megan and Caterina. Loving granny of Kai. Dearest daughter of the late Johnny and Nina. A much loved sister. Deeply regretted and sadly missed by all of her wider family circle and friends. Angela’s remains are now reposing at her sister Paula’s residence, 44a Ferguson Street. Funeral leaving from there on Wednesday, November 19 at 9:20am for 10.00am Requiem Mass in St. Columba’s Church, Longtower. Burial will take place immediately afterwards in the City Cemetery.
