Inspector Cathal Pearce appeals for community assistance following the major operation by the District Support Team

Police in Derry have seized suspected drugs with an estimated street value of £10,000 during a search in the Waterside.

Alongside the suspected Class B drugs seized, Tuesday's (August 25) planned search also resulted in the seizure of four cars, two motorbikes, and a significant sum of cash. The search was led by officers from Derry City & Strabane’s District Support Team (DST).

DST Inspector Cathal Pearce said: "We know the sale and supply of illicit drugs is an issue of concern, and we are working every day to remove drugs from communities and disrupt the activities of those involved in their sale and supply.

"This proactive search is another example of how we are tackling this issue and working to keep people safe.

"As our enquiries continue, I want to appeal to anyone with information about drug supply or dealing to report it to police on 101."
