Attempted murder probe launched in Derry after man stabbed multiple times

Several crime scenes held across city as detectives hunt two men over vicious night-time assault.
Detectives are treating a serious assault on a man who was stabbed multiple times in Derry on Tuesday night, October 27, as attempted murder.
The assault was reported to police shortly before 11.40pm when the victim flagged down a passing motorist on Skeoge Link Road who then called for help.
The injured man, aged in his thirties, was treated by NIAS and taken to hospital where he is being treated for serious injuries.
Officers are working to establish the circumstances, including where the assault took place. As a result of this, there are several scenes being held in the Steelstown Village/Raceourse Road and Cornshell Fields areas as police enquiries continue.
At this time, it's understood two men have been involved in the assault.
While police have conducted extensive enquiries to date, they are keen to hear from anyone who may have information, but who has not yet spoken with officers.
Officers also want to hear from anyone who was in the Earhart Park/Cornshell Fields areas last night at around 10.30pm and who may have witnessed what occurred, saw or heard any suspicious activity, or captured footage which may help their enquiries.
Detective Inspector Lizzie Ballentine said: "This was a serious incident, a vicious assault, which has left a man seriously injured.
"I want to thank everyone who has, to date, helped with our enquiries, and encourage anyone who has information – no matter how insignificant it might seem to them – to please report it. It may prove crucial to our investigation."
