Limavady community organisation, Roe Valley Residents Association have launched a new initiative, Collaborating Communities, which aims to build strong bonds and positive relationships in Limavady.

The programme will offer a series of exciting weekly workshops and activities for residents of the town and surrounding area aged 40 and over.

Funded by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Reconciliation Fund, the project is designed to break down social barriers and encourage meaningful interaction and shared experiences.

Karen Campbell, General Manager of Roe Valley Residents Association, expanded upon the programme’s objective to build a cohesive community:

“Our aim is to create a safe, shared space where people from all walks of life can come together, build friendships, and gain a greater appreciation of each other’s experiences,”

“Whether it's through dancing, storytelling, or working on an environmental project, every activity is a step toward a more inclusive and compassionate community.”

Collaborating Communities is designed to provide inclusive opportunities for connection, dialogue, and engagement, offering a welcoming and safe space for people from all community backgrounds.

Now open for registration, the project invites participants to take part in a wide variety of activities.

Participants will be able to explore storytelling and genealogy to celebrate heritage and identity, while Group Cognitive Behavioural Therapy sessions will promote resilience, emotional wellbeing, and mutual support.

The programme also celebrates creativity and culture through photography, art therapy, holistic therapies, and traditional dance.

In addition, nature-based environmental projects and historical outings will inspire teamwork and encourage the discovery of shared histories.

Collaborating Communities reflects a strong commitment by Roe Valley Residents Association to contribute to the creation of a more inclusive, connected, and understanding society in Limavady.

Roe Valley Residents Association are urging interested participants over 40 years of age to get in touch to register for the programme.
