Five people taken to hospital following Castledawson crash
Five people have been taken to two hospitals following a serious road traffic collision near Castledawson.
Emergency services and PSNI both attended the scene early this morning.
A spokesperson from The Northern Ireland Ambulance Service said “NIAS received a 999 call at 06:45 on August 26, following reports of an RTC in the Tamnadeese Road area of Castledawson.
“NIAS dispatched six Emergency Ambulances to the scene. The Charity Air Ambulance with HEMS on board were also tasked to the incident.
“Following assessment and initial treatment at the scene, three people were taken to Royal Victoria Hospital, Belfast by ambulance. Another two people were taken to Antrim Area Hospital by ambulance.”
A PSNI spokesperson said: “Motorists are advised that the northbound lane of the Glenshane Road, Castledawson, is closed to traffic from the Castledawson roundabout, due to a serious road traffic collision.
“The PSNI are advising motorists to seek an alternative route for their journey, and plan for delays in the area.”
