Commemoration to take place in Dungiven in memory of Kevin Lynch who died on hunger strike 44 years ago.
The annual 44th commemoration for Hunger Striker and Vol. Kevin Lynch will take place in his hometown of Dungiven this weekend.
Kevin Lynch died on Hunger Strike on August 1 1981. He was only 25 years old.
The memorial weekend will kick off on Friday, July 25 at 9pm with a Trad Seisiun in the Arcade Bar, all musicians are invited to come along.
The commemoration will continue on Saturday with live music by Kevin O’D from 9pm in the Arcade Bar.
On Sunday there will be a full commemoration of Vol. Kevin Lynch. Those in attendance are to meet at the chapel car park for 12.30pm. There will be several bands in attendance including The Kevin Lynch Memorial Flute Band. There will be a parade through the town followed by tea and sandwiches in the Arcade Bar. There will also be music at 2pm from Fir Ceol and 5pm from Foggy Duo.
