The Trailer Marking initiative between Craigbane GAC and Derry Strabane PCSP is a response to reports of ongoing criminal activity involving the theft of animals and equipment in rural area.  

Sinn Féin Councillor Fergal Leonard stated that:

 "I want to welcome this initiative which aims to tackle the theft of animal and farm equipment  in the Park area and across Derry and Tyrone

The Rural Crime Reduction initiative will see trailers being marked with a unique number that can be traced back to the owner and the PSNI if stolen.

“Farmer have enough challenges to deal without criminal's stealing their animals and equipment". 

 “It is essential that everyone works in partnership to prevent for theft in rural areas and it is very encouraging that there has been such a positive uptake in the initiative."
