Bateson requests meetings with Parades Commission and PSNI following Twelfth parade in Kilrea

The Sinn Féin representative said he witnessed some bands ‘acting in a manner that appeared deliberately provocative’ towards residents
Sinn Féin Councillor Sean Bateson has requested meetings with the Parades Commission and the PSNI following the Twelfth parade in Kilrea, after concerns were raised about the behaviour of some bands and band members.
Cllr Bateson said: "I have requested meetings with the Parades Commission and the PSNI to convey the concerns of the many residents who have contacted me regarding the behaviour of some bands and band members during the parade.

"I also witnessed some bands acting in a manner that appeared deliberately provocative towards residents, particularly on Coleraine Street. Such behaviour is completely unacceptable.
"Parades should be conducted with respect for everyone in the community. Residents should be able to go about their day without being subjected to provocation, intimidation or behaviour that heightens tensions," he added.
