Dungiven prepares for big Christmas light switch on this weekend

Dungiven's Christmas lights will be switched on this Saturday evening.

Dungiven residents will be preparing to get into full festive spirit as the town gets ready for its big Christmas light switch on this weekend.

Lots of events for all ages are planned to take place throughout the day this Saturday, November 30.

A craft fair will take place between 1pm and 6pm in Glór Hall at Lower Main Street where there will be an opportunity to purchase perfect handmade gifts and soak up the festive atmosphere.

Kids will get the chance to meet Santa, Mrs Claus, and their jolly helpers who will bring the festive magic with them.

There will be face painting, balloon making, and much more and Santa is also set to bring along his grotto and a snow globe to get everyone into the Christmas spirit.

At 6.15pm, Santa and his 'Fire Brigade Friends' will make a special appearance at Dromboughil Hall.

The main event kicks off at 7pm with a parade leaving St Canice's GAC carpark and making its way to the centre of the town where the big switch-on will take place.

Special guests, The Oakleaf Lions, will be joined by Santa for the switch on.

Santa and Mrs Claus will meet with children after the switch on takes place.

Locals are encouraged to come out and support the event.
