Foyle Cycling Club’s Ryan Reilly got back to winning ways over the weekend with victory in the Red Hand Trophy promoted by Ballymena Road Club. His victory underlines his potential as a classy bike rider and one who will need to be watched very closely in the run-up to the under-23 national championships next month. In a strong field of 80 riders, Reilly (pictured) beat Ali Gribbon of Carn Wheelers at the end of the 68-mile event with the latter’s teammate Joe McRory taking third place. The full result was: 1 Ryan Reilly (Foyle CC) 2 Ali Gribbon (Carn Wheelers) 3 Joe McRory (Carn Wheelers) 4 Conn McDunphy (Lucan CRC) 5 Ryan Sherlock (U/A) 6 Lindsay Watson (Plush) 7 Richard Meaney (Westport Covey Wheelers) 8 Paul McCarter (Donegal Bay CC) 9 Alan Bingham Cuchulainn CC) 10 Sean McIntyre (Caldwell Cycles Omagh)
