WATCH: Derry Girls (and Boys) standout performance of ‘Dreams’ by the Cranberries

The post-primary students performance was part of City of Derry International Choir Festival 10th anniversary

On Thursday 19 October 2023, Derry’s Guildhall Square was packed with the wonderful sounds of hundreds of singers singing ‘Dreams’ by the Cranberries, from the phenomenal hit TV series, ‘Derry Girls’!

The momentous occasion was part of the City of Derry International Choir Festival's 10th anniversary celebrations involving singers from all over the world!

The chorus of local post-primary students included students from Lumen Christi College, Foyle College, St Cecilia's College, St Columb's College, St Mary's College, Thornhill College, Coláiste Chineál Eoghain and Scoil Mhuire Buncrana.

Relive this wonderful celebration of Derry that marked the incredible success of hit Channel 4 TV show DerryGirls and acknowledged Derry being honoured with the very prestigious designation of UN City of Peace.

The United Nations International City of Peace programme acknowledges cities worldwide that have demonstrated outstanding efforts in fostering peace, tolerance and co-operation among their diverse communities.

Organisers say Derry’s transformation into a symbol of peace is a testament to the city’s resilience and dedication to moving on from the past.

The International City of Peace designation serves as a global recognition of ongoing efforts in bridging divides, fostering dialogue and nurturing a culture of understanding among its citizens.

Since its inception the festival has welcomed more than 10,000 singers to Derry from around the world, performing all styles of music, all with the common thread of enjoying singing together and sharing that joy with others.
