WATCH: Volley of shots fired over coffin of veteran Derry republican socialist

A volley of shots have been fired over the coffin of veteran Derry republican socialist, Terry Robson.

Mr. Robson, a founding member of the Irish Republican Socialist Party (IRSP), passed away at Altnagelvin Hospital this week.

Three masked men fired a number shots over his coffin, which was draped in a red Starry Plough flag and beret and gloves.

The IRSP is considered to be the political wing of the Irish National Liberation Army (INLA).

The IRSP was founded in December 1974 by former members of the Official IRA (OIRA) and Official Sinn Féin (OSF), Independent Republicans and Socialists, including: Mr Robson, Séamus O'Kane, Tommy McCourt, Johnny White, Seamus Costello and Bernadette McAliskey.

Mr. Robson was also an academic at the University of Ulster and an author of ‘The State and Community Action’ (2000), which applied the theories of the Italian Marxist intellectual Antonio Gramsci to community development and political activism.

His funeral will take place from his home in Glenowen on Saturday, October 21. His Requiem Mass will take place in the Long Tower at 12.30pm followed by interment in the City Cemetery.
