The PSNI has confirmed it carried out a search of a Derry man’s house in the Creggan area last night in relation to his alleged activities in Syria.

It comes after it emerged earlier this week that 25 year-old Creggan man, Eamon Bradley, had gone to Syria to fight with anti-government rebels in the country’s ongoing bloody civil war.

The PSNI conducted the search at the man's family home in Creggan last night, pictured above.

It is understood that Mr Bradley’s family believed he was going on a two week holiday to Turkey and had flown from Dublin airport with his Irish passport.

However, according to a report in the Daily Mirror, it’s thought he met an online contact who helped him cross into Syria.

He is supposedly fighting alongside Syrian rebel forces in the Syrian conflict.

The former pupil at St Joseph’s Boys School pupil has allegedly been in the country for several months

He posted pictures to Facebook which show him kneeling behind assault rifles in a makeshift shelter and on horseback in the Middle East.

He’s believed to have been trained in guerrilla warfare.

The Derry News called to Mr Bradley’s home in Creggan on Wednesday but his family said they did not wish to speak to the press, describing it as a ‘private matter.’

A spokesperson for the PSNI said the search had been carried out as ‘police are making enquiries into reports of a Northern Ireland man in Syria.’
